Recent Overseas Travels

USDA – Honduras, August 2008

In August 2008, Mr. Bonar traveled with the USDA as a technical consultant to Puerto Cortes, Honduras. He inspected the port cold storage facility, and made recommendations to improve conditions and the frequent malady of “temperature abuse” in the cold storage industry.

DAI – Serbia, April 2009

Mr. Bonar was again contacted about serving as a technical consultant for a project in Serbia, where he toured multiple facilities and studied the Post-Harvest Processing (PHP) of fruit, one of the major exports of the country.

DAI – Afghanistan, February 2012

In February 2012, Mr. Bonar again served as technical consultant to Herat, Afghanistan where he studied the perishable food facility there, and helped to design a possible future new facility for the area.

IIR Conference – Macedonia, May 2013

Mr. Bonar’s next overseas trip was to present a technical paper at the biennial International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) in Ohrid, Macedonia. Mr. Bonar’s paper was on recovering energy (flash gas) that is released during the refrigeration cycle that could be captured and harnessed to augment power consumption and drive portions of the refrigeration equipment. The paper was favorably received.
